The client wanted a partial renovation of this apartment in Sant Cugat del Vallès, in the outskirts of Barcelona. The architectural works focuses on the common area of the house, opening the kitchen to the dining room and the living room.

All the layout is generated by two closed boxes. We choose to build a “central box” with all the necessary elements for the kitchen, dining and living area. This box articulates the spaces around it and resizes the measurements of these three main spaces. The box contains several elements: storage for the kitchen and the dining room, wardrobe for the entrance, and work-breakfast table for the kitchen and the living room.

The second box, contains a powder room and the kitchen high cupboards, all covered with a lacquered wood in a light grey. This box, also hides a sliding door to close up the kitchen.

We used comfortable materials, like lacquered wood in different colors or warm oak wood in the floor.
